I just got my H-1b renewed and no-one asked for the drivers license.
Maybe your lawyer's office just has a policy to ask for copy of everyones license for their records. Lots of professional buisnesses do this (physicians, lawyers' CPA's office etc.), but this is for their internal records and to be used in case of collection issues, for non-payment of their bills and such.

Last week my lawyer has asked for copy of Driving License of me and my wife for filing the H1-B and H4 extension.
Then one of my friend told me that INS is asking for copy of the driving license for filing the h1-B extension.
My employer is supposed to file my 3 year Extension based on I-140 in Dec this year( Dec 2007) but my Licences expires on Sept 2008, So I will I be just getting the extension till Sept 2008 and Not 3 year extension.
Any Idea on that
I have already submitted my driving license to my lawyer.

Typically, if someone is doing a AC21 jump + H1b transfer, it means that the h1b gets transferred to the new employer and the new employer is the h1b petitioner. If the h1b is based on an approved 140 - the beneficiary gets it for 3 years and unless the person is completing his 3 years with the new employer when the 140 revoke happens, the h1b is still valid unless the new employer decides he will cancel it or the person is layed off and thats when the person is in deep trouble because he/she does not have EAD. Correct me if I am wrong. H1b revocation by ex employer may not affect the candidate because candidate already did a transfer

If person has already crossed 6 years limit, H1 extension or transfer does not stand valid without any underlying pending AOS. This is what RG termed as opposite to conventional internet wisdom. i was not around for few days,just read your post.KABAYAN!I am also from the Philippines.I am not a derivative from my wife's visa,I am under the sched a category being sponsored by the hospital where my wife is working.i just had my ds230 filed and GOD knows how long is the wait this time.once visa numbers become available,you and your family will be first in line at least.your PD is 2005 so the chances of getting ahead in line is good,just make sure all is flawless,i mean requirements and all.good luck to all of us.where in pinas are you at?

what i dont get is..why are desis so stuck up abt GC... dont get frustrated...work the system and work with the system!
making statements like Mirage did in the beginning of this thread are pointless!!!
i think its all part of a well thought out conspiracy to:
1.) Keep the chicken in the cage: get those desis into the system and tie them up in some legal/bureaucratic loop for 10-15 yrs.. the taxes and the application fees we desis pay keeps the system running..
2.) These fixes that IV is trumpeting abt..is just chicken feed... nothing big will ever materialize...
teh fact is THEY dont want too many desis in US..THEy dont want US to become another UK..Great Britain se Great BritainSthan ban gaya!!!
so dont let the frustration get to you.. work with IV..join local chapters and stay positive!

Fedup is an understatement. Zero accountability. After moving dates to 2006 now dates go back to 2003????????? Last year it started with date being at Apr 2004 and this year starts with Apr 2003????? This is beyond ridiculous!!!aaaaaaarrrghhhhhhhhhh.
P.S Its wrong to tell that guys with MS are getting their GC's before others. I have one and so do many others I know. There is no order guys...........

I am planning to call PBEC for my case. My recruitment was completed early this month but the lawyers haven't received a recruitment report instruction letter. I want to request them to at least send the letter since everything else is ready. Did anyone have any luck calling on their own? Or do they only want to speak with employer/attorney?
Although, filing 485 now doesn't seem possible in this narrow time frame... still want to give it a last shot.

Some good ideas and thoughts here. Here's my 2c :)
One thing that no one has pointed out and I wonder if people even care about it, but to me its a BIG issue.
All our hard earned $$$$ going into the Social Security and Medicare pool. Has anyone even thought about this ? If you look at your figure closely, it is the amount of money that an average american family saves over 1 year.
I personally feel that it is too big a contribution to let it to waste and for me getting a green card would make me eligible to get all the benefits that I deserve and have rightly earned.

In my opinion, the most likely reason why EB2 India dates have been advanced to June 2006 is to help consular posts. CP filers can get their interviews now.
