The USCIS automated line for Priority dates is still playing the PD's for June 2007 showing that EB-3 India cut off June 1st 2003 etc..
We have so contrasting images of the efficiency of USCIS. Hope they keep the same tempo as of the last week of June on Oct 1st when the FY 2008 quota kicks in.
They were/are so busy approving cases that they donot have time to update the message. Everyone from Janitors to Execs have been working for the last week to approve those 66K cases.

Wow, so you're telling me be happy as somebody else is in pain now ???
Their problems doesn't make me smile here. I want solutions to my problems.
We're much better off here in the US when you compare our compatriots suffering in Britain. Britain has enforced a lot more regulations on immigrants, much to their chagrin.
Let's grin and bear it and hope to see the 'green' light at the end of the tunnel.

All,
Some persuasive articles have been written.
However, we intend to submit these as Op-Eds. In general, Op-Eds are more effective and more likely to be accepted when they are written in the first person. There is really no need to go into the various minutiae of the legal immigration system. Also, please try not to use form names like I485, or other technical terms like priority date, retrogression etc. It is probably best to use a generic term like 'backlog'. The newspaper editors - and the normal reader - are looking for how the broken system affected you, gentle writer. The very first article in this whole thread was really the best one since it was written from the first person and brought a face, a personality to paper.
My 2c.

Learning01,
There is too much curbing of free speech, you admins are taking a heavy handed approach to discussions. Deleting posts at will, diverting topics at whims and fancies...
Let there be discussins, there is nothing wrong in floating ideas.. allow members to express. Not every idea needs to be implemented.
This sort of arrogance is not going help anybody's cause.
Just my two cents...
All these are good for chit chat any way. If we had the clout to implement laws that were based on figments of our imaginations, we probably would not be in line for a green card. Nothing wrong with ideas, except the potential for implementation of the amendment needs to go through IV core team and then sent across to any senators or the USCIS. We dont want to look foolish be ridiculed for visionary ideas that will not see the light of the day.

So according to Mr. aytes, everything is fine, and house need not worry about bringing any reforms. This is a typical SYB response from a career USCIS beuorocrate.

I think these guys are just playing with our minds. They know how many applications are pending. At least they have a estimate and idea.
Now they will sit on these pending applications until the end of year and then suddenly move dates 2-3 years ahead and approve some GCs. Few will be happy and most of us will be disappointed.

"Therefore, without legislative relief, the waiting time for Indian EB2 applicants may be measured in years, even decades."
In a weird way, I feel this is good news. An old saying in China says 'Things will turn to their opposite at their extremes'. The moment before dawn is the darkest hour of the day.

Dear Gonzalez,
Distributing receipts are less priority compare to using visa numbers before end of fiscal year. You can always distribute receipts even after a month but can't use visa numbers once wasted. such a simple thing, why don't you understand.
OMG did i said that? yabadaba, glus, needGCcool, greatzolin and party will kill me. no, they wont they already got their receipts:D :D
just kidding, take it easy.

There is another thread on this same topic that presents a discussion on how the ammendment was not rejected per se, but it was more like including the ammendment that was rejected.
From the daily dairy (thomas.loc.gov):
"By 55 yeas to 40 nays..Senate rejected the motion .. with respect to Cornyn Amendment No. 2339 (to Amendment No. 2327), to provide interim relief .... Subsequently, the point of order that the amendment, was not germane, was sustained, and the amendment thus fell."

FINAL UPDATE
HURRAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
My I-485 case got reopened after being in denial status for three months............ My attorney got a letter from USCIS.
::::::::::::::::::To recap::::::::::::::
I went to the Congressional office on 05/14/2009 morning.
Congressional office made a call to Nebraska Service Center regarding the case on the same day afternoon (05/14/2009 afternoon)
USCIS sent letter to my attorney on Friday (05/15/2009).
My attorney received it this morning (05/19/2009).
Looks like magic........Whoever has been working on my case from the past three months made a huge reversal decision in just a few hours on 05/14/2009 afternoon with atmost attention........I like this sudden surge in commitment and care on my case.......
Here is the wording:
Quote""""""""""""""""""""""""
Reference is made to the Notice of Appeal or Motion (Form I-290B) filed on April 23, 2009. You are seeking reopen the decision rendered by USCIS on February 17, 2009, denying application filed by you.
The motion as submitted has been reviewed. It meets the requirements of Title 8, COde of Federal Regulations, $103.5 concerning the proper filing of a motion. Accordingly, the request to reopen the previous decision will be and is hereby granted.
The facts and issues in this matter were properly discussed in the decision, supra, and need not be repeated here as they are a matter of record.
After a complete review of the record of proceedings, including your motion, the grounds for denial have been overcome.
The application will be reopened and the processing continued. Once the processing is completed, you will receive a notice under separate cover.
Sincerely
